Shop ‘Till You Drop: a love story.

where art thou susan powter?

On this beloved holiday, I hit the streets to find my soul mate: a pair of high-rise skinny jeans. I declared that I could only purchase said item and nothing else. Period. But then it happened… the shopping mania set in and there was no going back! All of a sudden there I was, and there they were: open cardigans, studded flats, long basic T’s, workout tanks, leggings, gold pendants, flashy tops, fitted blazers and everything that is not skinny jeans but I swear I need… and all on SALE!! It was a nightmare made worse by my fear of commitment and total inability to prioritize. I dragged myself through five hours of rigorous downtown mall shopping because I figured the next store was sure to have my skinnies! Needless to say, I had to pull a citizen’s arrest and send myself home without my intended valentine, but not necessarily empty handed…

I take it from your Essie choice that you’re on board with the “mannequin nails” trend? FYI, my fave Essie color is Fiji. It’s the best opaque light pink (which is hard to find), and it looks good on toes and nails, whether pale or tan!

In other news, I too just purchased 2 open cardigans. Glad to know I’m on trend!

This is amazing Marianne! You should be very proud. I am going to check out Old Navy today–You GO Girl! I’m cheering you on….j.

James Jeans makes a great skinny. They are a little pricey, but fit great.

Hey everyone 🙂 Any suggestions for a cute party dress that would fit a havana nights theme? I know this has nothing to do with the post, but I’m super stuck!!!

    • dear alexis,
sounds like a fun party! if your mission is to go for an updated, toned down version of this then perhaps shop around for something a bit more like this dress from arden b and throw on some metallic strappy heels, get a spray tan and tease your curly hair!
      sincerely,
      the style trial
