Knockin’ Boots.

pretty-woman
I have zero shame in confessing two things: being what is (sadly but truly) described as “trendy” and also possessing the ability to pull off most of these trends quite well. This happens in part because I love testing out what’s current in fashion and also I just “go for it,” so to speak. I don’t get caught up in “my butt looks big” and yada, yada. If I like it, I wear it. Once in awhile I stumble upon a trend that no commoner should subscribe to (as it is usually best if left to drag queens and other heroines such as Carrie Bradshaw). Case in point: over-the-knee boots. Now that they have trickled down from the runways and are available in too many styles in nearly every retail store I have to intervene before not-so pretty women are walkin’ down our streets. This trend is best left to Vivian Ward pre-Edward Lewis.

Thankfully a host of other amazing boots are waiting to be adopted and worn in the cold weather to come! If you dare take a walk on the wild side then allow me to suggest some more user-friendly styles.

The Bootie

Tip: Dress them up with colorful  tights and a skirt or dress them down by pairing with “boyfriend” jeans.

The Foldover

Tip: Make sure to wear your skinniest skinny jeans if you intend to tuck them in to these. Foldover boots add bulk to your calves so balance out the proportions by wearing a blousy, flowing top while keeping the leg slender. Try to always mix masculine with feminine for optimum results.

Sturdy

Tip: These styles are durable and will bring a timeless edginess to your wardrobe. Be wise in your investment and prior to purchasing use my rule of thumb: “what are ten ways I can easily wear these?”  Oh and make sure you already own the other elements that will complete each look!
